how to get aluminum

Aluminum is a common resource in Astroneer that is used to craft various structures and items, including the Medium Shuttle, the Oxygenator, and the Medium Storage Silo. Here's how to get aluminum in Astroneer:

laterite farming in astroneer

  1. Find Laterite: Aluminum is obtained from Laterite, which can be found in various locations on the planets and moons in Astroneer. Laterite is a red and brown mineral that can be found on the surface or underground.
  2. Mine Laterite: Once you have located Laterite, you will need to mine it using the Terrain Tool. The Terrain Tool can be used to drill into the ground and extract the Laterite. Laterite can be found in large deposits and is relatively easy to find once you have located a deposit.
  3. Smelt Laterite: Once you have mined Laterite, you will need to smelt it in a Smelting Furnace to obtain Aluminum. To build a Smelting Furnace, you will need Compound, which can be found on most planets and moons in Astroneer. Once you have built a Smelting Furnace, place it on the ground and connect it to a source of power, such as a Solar Panel or a Wind Turbine. Then, place the Laterite in the input slot of the Smelting Furnace and wait for it to be smelted into Aluminum.
  4. Convert Scrap to Aluminum: Alternatively, Aluminum can also be obtained by converting Scrap into Aluminum using the Chemistry Lab. To do this, you will need to gather Scrap from various sources, such as broken down vehicles or debris on the planets. Once you have enough Scrap, you can place it in the input slot of the Chemistry Lab and wait for it to be converted into Aluminum.

That's it! Once you have obtained Aluminum, you can use it to craft various items and structures in Astroneer.
